Lovense Ferri: the wearable you can take out of the house

Most long-distance devices are built for the bedroom. The Ferri is built for everywhere else: a 35 g panty vibrator held in place by a magnet, with the same app and long-distance control as the rest of the Lovense range.

The verdict

The Ferri is the Lovense device to choose when it will be worn outside the home. It is light at 35 g, waterproof, and runs for up to 195 minutes, which covers a dinner or an evening out. It is an external device only, and how well it stays put depends on your underwear, so it complements an insertable wearable like the Lush 4 rather than replacing one.

Worth it if

  • Couples who want a partner to control the device during a date, a walk or a night out
  • Anyone who prefers external stimulation and a device worn over the body rather than inside it
  • Lush owners who want to add clitoral stimulation, which Lovense sells as a Lush 4 and Ferri set

Look elsewhere if

  • Anyone who wants internal stimulation, for whom the Lush 4 or Lush Mini is the closer fit
  • People who usually wear loose underwear, or none, since the magnet needs fabric to hold against
  • Buyers with a pacemaker or similar implant, who should check with their doctor before using any device held by a strong magnet

How it scores against our criteria

Every review is assessed against the method we publish. Read the method.

Remote control architecture
Internet-based control through the Lovense Remote app, like every Lovense device, so a partner can control it from anywhere, not just across the table. The app also adds unlimited custom patterns, a music-sync mode and a wake-up alarm.
Battery and charging
Up to 195 minutes of use from a one-hour charge, by Lovense's figures, with 100 hours on standby and a magnetic charging cable. Enough for an evening out; less than the Lush 4's 350 minutes, which matters less for a device usually worn for a few hours.
Wear and attachment
The Ferri sits inside the underwear and a magnetic cap on the outside holds it in place. Lovense sells spare caps in pairs, which is worth knowing, because a small cap is the part most likely to go missing. At 35 g it is less than half the weight of a Lush.
Noise and discretion
Lovense markets it as whisper quiet but, unlike for the Lush range, publishes no decibel figure. We cannot verify how discreet it is in a quiet restaurant, and neither can any buyer before trying it.
Materials and care
Silicone and ABS plastic, IPX7 waterproof, so it can be rinsed under the tap after use. Seven built-in patterns at three intensity levels work from the button without the app.
App dependency and privacy
The button gives you the built-in patterns; remote control, custom patterns and everything shared with a partner need the app and an account, and long-distance sessions route through Lovense's servers. For a device designed to be used in public, connecting only through your partner's account matters more than usual.

Long-distance play is usually imagined as two people in two bedrooms. A lot of what couples actually do with a remote-controlled device happens elsewhere: one partner wears it to dinner, and the other holds the phone. The Ferri is the device in the Lovense range designed for exactly that.

How it is worn

The Ferri is a small, curved vibrator that sits inside the underwear against the clitoris, with ridges along its body and a tapered tip. A magnetic cap goes on the outside of the fabric and holds it in place, so it does not drift as you walk, sit or dance. Nothing is inserted, which is the main difference from the Lush.

The magnet is also its limitation. It needs fabric to hold against, so how secure it feels depends on the underwear: snug, fairly thin fabric holds best. Expect to try a couple of pairs before a first evening out.

What the app adds

On its own, the Ferri offers seven patterns at three intensity levels from its button. The Lovense Remote app turns it into a remote-controlled device: a partner in the same room or another country can change what it does, build custom patterns, or sync it to music. A wake-up alarm mode is there too, for those who want it.

Ferri, Lush 4, or both

They do different things. The Lush 4 is an insertable wearable for internal stimulation with a longer battery; the Ferri is external, lighter and easier to wear for hours. Lovense sells the two together as a set for combined stimulation, controlled from the same app. If you are choosing one, the question is which kind of stimulation you prefer, not which device is better.

Ferri or Foxy

OhMiBod's Foxy is the closest alternative, also magnetic, with video calls and chat built into its app. Lovense publishes far more about the Ferri: its material, weight, battery life and water resistance, none of which OhMiBod's page states for the Foxy. Our comparison of the two goes into the details.

There is no single best long-distance device, because couples apart want different things from one. Here are our picks for seven situations, each with the trade-off that comes with it.

Updated

Long-distance control is what Lovense devices are best known for, and setting it up takes a few minutes. Here is what each partner needs, the steps in order, the three ways to share control, and what to check when it does not connect.

A connected intimate device generates some of the most sensitive data a person can produce. Six clauses in the privacy policy tell you most of what you need to know, and finding them takes about ten minutes.
